Kefalonia is blessed with a hot and sunny Mediterranean climate, with little rain duiring the peak holiday season.
Summers in Kefalonia (June until September) are hot with average temperatures of 28°C (82°F), and rainfall is rare. The hottest months are July and August, which are also the driest. During summer, the water temperature sits in the mid 20's which is perfect for splashing around in the ocean or partaking in the various local water sports, but cool enough to provide relief from the hot sun.
A pleasant time to visit Kefalonia is during Spring and Autumn with temperatures of about 20°C (68°F), and lovely clear skies. Autumn tends to be warmer than spring but sees more rainfall.
Winters in Kefalonia (December to February) are mild but wet, with minimum lows at this time still only around 9°C (48°F). The rain helps the island maintain its green and lush landscape for the remainder of the year. Make sure you bring a warm jacket and rain gear at this time.
