George Molfetas Museum Hotel

Address: Faraklata village, Faraklata

George Molfetas Museum Hotel was the home of one of the most significant satirical poets of Kefalonia, George Molfeta. It has been converted into a luxury boutique hotel with a gourmet restaurant, in an authentic 1895 setting.

While the structure of the house has been preserved, all essential facilities have been provided to ensure that no modern luxury is found wanting.

All the rooms have private bathrooms with either baths or jet-showers. The central heating is backed up by wood burners in four of the rooms. There is air-conditioning in all the rooms. The furniture is authentic, handmade and belonging to the period 1790 to 1950.

The hotel has taken special care to ensure that the best possible comfort has been provided to guests.

Facilities & Services

George Molfetas Museum Hotel offers a wide range of facilities, the most important being the restaurant Possada. Possada, as referred to in an early poem of George Molfeta's, means a patron's estate house, as well as a table set in great ceremony and style.

The hotel serves genuine home cooked food, prepared with the best organic produce of the island.  Traditional recipes are still religiously followed for authenticity.

The hotel also arranges cooking lessons to teach guests how to cook local specialties. As a part of this activity, the hotel arranges for guests to accompany a fishing boat for lobster fishing.  Guests can also be taken to a hunting farm located not far from the hotel, or to the traditional wineries to sample Kefalonian wines. They may also visit a traditional oil press between November and January.

Free Internet access, CD players in all rooms, I pod stands, fridge, safe, hair dryer, DVD player and TV with satellite connection on demand are some of the facilities provided to the guests.

The hotel's services also include 24-hour reception, room service, personal chambermaid and cell phones with local connection for contacting the staff.

Guests may sink into complete relaxation at the Lanerholm Finn Sauna and the Coleman open Spa. Personalised services such as hairdressing and massage can be arranged, with prior intimation.

Personalised excursions to explore magical sights off the beaten track of Kefalonia can be organised, as can visits to horse riding schools and scuba diving schools.

The hotel can organise functions and events such as weddings, engagements, family reunions and conferences.
