Fiscardo Bay Hotel
The very popular, much loved Fiscardo is situated at the North of Kefalonia. In spite of its great reputation, Fiscardo has kept its small size and traditional character, especially the Venetian architecture and pastel colours of the houses which have been untouched by the earthquake of 1953, unlike most places in Kefalonia.
Fiscardo looks like a painting because of the pretty colours of the houses, the rich vegetation and the fishing port in front which now has yachts and sailing boats from all over the world.
The atmosphere as one walks through the narrow streets is splendid, with the colourful gift shops, the cafes and the restaurants by the sea. Roberto Guiscardo, the Norman pirate ended his infamous career in the 9th century and settled in Fiscardo, naming it after himself.
There are prehistoric finds in the area dating back to 50,000 BC. Guests can visit the roman cemetery, the ruins of the Byzantine church, a magnificent bas-relief representing Dioskouri, the Environmental Museum established by volunteer members of Fiscardo's Nautical and Environmental Club (FNEC).
There are also many small beaches with pebbles and crystal clear water around Fiscardo. Some may only be accessed by sea. For those who don't come with their own sailing boat, it is always possible to rent a boat, and no licence is needed. However there are still beaches which may easily be accessed by car, and beaches like Dafnoudi that may be driven to up to a point.
