In the old days Captain's House was not a hotel but it was the place where Captain Costas repaired his boat and his fishing gear. Being the only one in the village it was also at the time a meeting point for the local fishermen. Except fishing, the boats were used in transferring goods to mainland Greece. Just after the earthquake of 1953, the boats were used to transfer injured people from the earthquake to the hospital of Patra in Peloponissos. Today the family of Captain Costas has established the hotel in Skala since the early years of tourism developing in the area and kept hospitality as their greatest asset!
